The design of the bulkhead sealing system ensures that a fire originating in the engine room cannot spread further throughout the vessel. In the event of a fire, carbon dioxide is released within the sealing assembly, protecting the primary sealing rings by suppressing the fire at the penetration point.
ProfiSeal’s fire-resistant bulkhead sealing is currently the world’s only Class A-60 fire-rated shaft sealing solution of its kind. This classification is internationally recognized: in addition to DNV, the system has also been certified by BV (Bureau Veritas) and KR (Korean Register).
The fire-resistant bulkhead sealing is available for shaft diameters ranging from 50 to 500 mm and is designed to withstand temperatures from –5°C up to +950°C.
